Mooring rope 1&2 are part of the ongoing series “Imprints and Shadows” that I started at the seaside in Normandy many years ago. Done in 2020, they are the most recent attempts of obtaining an imprint of an object “as found” on wet paper. After applying the Cerulean blue pigment, I started drawing with solid watercolour following the shadows and the tensions in its torn and disintegrated structure. Thus they join my old imprints of stones and tree roots in white oil painting on a long format of black waterproof fabric.
